THE SCIENCE.
The number one factor in health, wellness and living longer is… education.
And I’m about to share with you an incredible discovery that has been completely brushed aside by the media because there’s no money to be made in it. Where there’s no pharma there’s no propaganda.
When Astronauts Frank Borman and James Lovell were scooped up out of the Atlantic Ocean at the end of their Gemini 7 spaceflight they were exhausted, weak and needed the help of people on both arms to help them walk a few steps.
The first humans to spend almost two weeks in low earth orbit and zero gravity and their bodies told a story about what happens to us with inactivity when we age.
NASA discovered that the very short time these men spent in zero gravity took a huge toll on the body and that led to some useful science that you can benefit from.
We now know that being sedentary, or living in zero gravity, is not only detrimental, it’s deadly. You see in space weightlessness equates to uselessness. Astronauts can lift any object or any size with very little effort. The lack of gravitational resistance makes everything “easy”, and the body hates it.
Flash forward to 2017 and the examination of astronauts that have spent 6 months in space demonstrates a loss of 40% of bone density. That duplicates the advanced stages of osteoporosis in fragile elderly people.
This problem was something that NASA needed to stop before it started. They had to devise a method of exercise in space that ensures to combat that kind of rapid decay in completely healthy astronauts.
After all we cannot pay millions of dollars in schooling, training and physical optimization for space travelers and then have them land on Mars re-entering a gravity where they are the equivalent of weak elderly patients hobbling about. One fall and a broken hip and your billions in space research is for nothing.
So in a nutshell here is what we have learned about these core essential truths regarding the health and usefulness of our bodies as we age.
Activity matters. Load bearing resistance exercise throughout the full arc of a muscles movement is the most efficient way to cause positive, safe stress to muscles.
When you commit to this activity even three or four times a week, you are giving your body information. You are programming it that this stress is coming routinely at intervals and that it should be prepared for it. Health has a rhythm to it.
The same is true for load bearing exercise for the bones. Your bones appreciate resistance when you lift weights. The compression and torque of exercise informs your bones similarly and they respond by increasing their production. Yet what does production mean in your bones?
It’s not just more calcium and stronger bones.
Our bones secrete a protein called osteocalcin, discovered in the 1970s, that rebuilds the skeleton. In 2007, a study proved that this protein acts as a hormone to keep blood sugar levels in check and burn fat.
So this slides back to the astronauts again. If you are NASA and you have these multimillion dollar brain athletes in space… how do you keep them healthy.
NASA proved that you can not only optimally keep a person in health but it is ideal and preferred if you do it in short bursts just a few times a week. That’s right. Not only is jogging five miles a day 7 days a week not fun, it’s not necessary or ideal.
Rapidly doing exercises that are load bearing throughout the entire range of movement proved to be metabolically the best for increasing the health and wellness of bones and muscle tissue. That means the whole physical system including strength, wellness, youthfulness.. all those benefits we see in the healthiest and youngest versions of bones and muscles are tied to this type of exercises.
In order to overcome these issues, NASA spent millions of dollars on a machine that could provide this type of exercise to athletes in space, they named it the ARED system. It stands for Advanced Resistance Exercise Device.
It allows astronauts to complete a myriad of tensioned exercises with a flywheel and pistons. I won’t go deeply into the engineering but essentially it allows for a full range of motion for a user and provides adjustable tension throughout the motion.
ARED type exercise is called Time Under Tension Training. It has been picked up by all kinds of athletes.
Time Under Tension Training offers all the proven benefits of the ARED on earth but fortunately it doesn’t come in a 1800 pound device that will take a up an entire room and cost 13 million dollars.
This is the Time Under Tension Trainer or the TUT trainer. It is based on the identical science, physiology, medical evidence and biology that NASA is using. This is a much more simple industrial design that was initially crafted to be in hotels, gyms and training facilities. Initially the TUT Fitness Company, out of Vancouver B.C. was hand building machines for elite athletes o use in home and travel with. They have world class sprinters, fighters, even pickle ball players utilizing it daily.
Then as word got out demand increased and tooling was perfected and small mechanical improvements were steadily made for about 5 years until the current graphite edition was ready for the public.
The most incredible part of the design is that it’s aluminum tower is rated to stand hundreds of thousands of hours and it only had a few moving pieces. Before we get stuck on design however. Trust this.
When you decide to buy one of these. And I bet sooner or later, hopefully sooner for your antiaging, health and metabolism you will… understand it gives you 100% of the benefits metabolically required to live longer and be healthier.
Using this for 15-20 minutes, three to 4 times a week you will begin to fighting premature metabolic aging at every cellular level.
